Meet Rob Vargo – the guy who turned a $10K dream into a Michigan golf legacy!

What started with a small loan and a big leap of faith in 1987 has grown into something truly special. I’m Rob Vargo, born and raised in Sterling Heights, and today I’m proud to say I own the largest privately held golf company in Michigan — but this journey has always been about more than just fairways and greens.

It all began with my first business, built from the ground up and eventually sold to a Fortune 500 company by 1997. That same year, my love for golf took over and I purchased Bruce Hills Golf Club. That one course lit the spark for what’s now a family-run passion project with heart.

Since then, we’ve added The Myth Golf & Banquets, which reopened with a bang in 2007, and in 2008, I invested in Hampton Golf Club in Rochester Hills. Then in 2015 came Golden Hawk Golf & Banquets — a stunning 18-hole course with a driving range that we’ve turned into a full-blown wedding and event destination. It’s more than business. It’s family. It’s fun. It’s Vargo Golf.

And the best part? My kids now work alongside me, helping carry the torch forward. We’re all about delivering great golf, amazing food, and unforgettable experiences — from your morning tee time to your “I do’s.”

Outside the clubhouse, I stay involved with local clubs and charities, especially supporting kids’ education and fighting homelessness. Giving back is just part of the game.
